Coronavirus Update: March 21, 2020In an effort to ensure our clients are informed as to how our firm is operating during this health crisis, we will be providing updates as frequently as necessary on this website.
We continue to monitor the situation daily and can make changes quickly. We are taking this VERY SERIOUSLY.
The current measures undertaken to do our part in curbing the spread of the coronavirus are as follows:
- No member of the public will be allowed into our offices (read below to find out how to get information to us). -We have implemented a secure file transfer solution. To send us information look under the “Resources” tab above and find our offices under "Links”. - Staff will continue to work out of our Hamiota and Brandon offices as normal. - We have implemented strict social distancing procedures and all other procedures as suggested by health authorities. Anyone that is feeling ill or is at any risk will not be allowed to work in the office.
Even though the filing deadline for personal tax returns has been extended to June 1, 2020, we are working as hard as we can for as long as we can to get returns completed and filed. We understand that clients expecting refunds will want their returns filed as quickly as possible. For those with a balance owing, you will have until September 1, 2020 to pay any 2019 income tax amounts to the Receiver General. Either way, we want to get the work done for you as quickly and efficiently as we can.
We are asking our clients to call our office for further instruction once they feel they have all of the information ready to file their return. You can reach our Brandon office at 204-726-1995 (toll free 888-726-1995) and Hamiota office at 204-764-2544. Our office hours are 8:30 to 4:30 Monday to Friday.
At that time, we will speak with you on the telephone and determine what, of the documents that you have, we actually need to file your return. Many income slips are already available to us by direct download from CRA. Once you are aware of what is needed, then the method of delivery will be explained to you.
Dropping off information at any of our offices will still be available, but you should contact our office for information on how that will work in each location. Documents that we require can be mailed to us or scanned and sent to us using our new secure file transfer solution. To send us scanned information hover over the “Resources” tab above and click "Links” to find our new secure file transfer solution. Again, please contact our office for specific procedures.
Once your returns are completed, we will again be calling you to provide you options for receiving your returns, signing what is necessary and remitting payment for preparation. These options will include mailing the information to you or emailing you the information using a secure electronic transmission.
We are doing our diligent best to continue to serve our clients to the best of our ability. We may have had to change how we are serving you, but our emphasis is still to continue to deliver to you the services that you require.
